Erwin Langer takes over management
The bid company for the 2018 Ryder Cup, RC Deutschland GmbH, has been under the management of Erwin Langer as new CEO since 7 July 2010.
The departing CEO, Florian Bruhns, will be concentrating once again on his comprehensive tasks as CEO for Sport at the German Golf Association (DGV).
The main tasks Langer will be facing within RC Deutschland include continuing discussions with federal and state governments, finalising the specifics of various requirements from the bid documents and replying to further questions from Ryder Cup Europe LLP in London. This organisation will make the decision in April 2011 as to whether Germany, France, the Netherlands, Portugal or Spain will be granted the right to host the event.
The supervisory board of RC Deutschland GmbH was also extended on 7 July. The existing members of this board - Norbert Löhlein (Chairman), Erhard Wetterich (Deputy Chairman), Jürgen Th. Weghmann and Rainer Goldrian - will be joined in future by Dieter Dunkerbeck, Treasurer of the German Golf Association (DGV) and Claus M. Kobold, President of the Association of Non-Club Golfers (VcG).
The number of company shareholder was also increased on 7 July. The German Golf Association (DGV) as majority shareholder of RC Deutschland GmbH will hand over 10% of its shares to the Bavarian Golf Association and 10% to Langer Sport Marketing GmbH as new company shareholders. The share of 10% held by Professional Golf AG (PGA of Germany) remains unchanged.
